Hi Ana, I’m currently using Aweber and I have recently noticed that most of the big “gurus” have been using iContact – My understanding is that you can import your existing list directly to iContact without a double opt-in all over again. All this on a “honor” system but if the spam complaints go about “the” threshold – your iContact account could get shutdown.

Stay away! Their RSS campaign did not send out for a while and then on its own sent out 6 emails at once really pissing off our readers they offered us a discount of 30% if we signed a two year contract after I said it was an inexcusable mistake which cost me hundreds of dollars in unsubscribes and possibly thousands and pissed off my entire email list. 30% off their inflated high price which they had just boosted was not worth it - i have heard many experts and users tell me of Aweber nightmare stories since my experience. I would recommend mailchimp as an option for basic users, i would advice all to stay away from Aweber

For me, an obvious alternative to both Mailchimp and Aweber is Getresponse. Depending on your list size, it will usually come in cheaper than both Mailchimp and Aweber (particularly if you pay upfront for a year or two years), and it’s feature packed (offering landing pages, webinars and a CRM tool in addition to the features outlined above). And it is much more flexible than either Mailchimp or Aweber when it comes to emailing segmented data and managing multiple lists. 
Cons: I've heard that if you open a new account with Aweber now, you need to use their service for around a month using double optin, which could be annoying. When I set my account up several years ago, I didn't have to do that. So if you're planning on running paid ads etc right away, that might be an issue for you. If not, Aweber is awesome and i'm sure you'll love it.

Autoresponders are e-newsletters that are sent to your mailing list subscribers at pre-defined intervals – for example, you can set them up so that straight after somebody signs up to your list, they receive a welcome or ‘onboarding’ message from your business; a week later they could receive a promo code for specific products; two weeks later they could receive an encouragement to follow you on social media. And so on!
MailChimp – don’t see it used a lot, but I do know that you can get it free for the first 2000 subscribers. Sounds great, but do you really want only 2000 subscribers? (I know it sounds like a great number if you haven’t started your list yet, but come on… let’s shoot for the stars!). After that, it gets much more expensive than Aweber. Plus, have you seen emails from MailChimp? I wouldn’t choose this autoresponder for that reason alone.
But how exactly does AWeber support your team? You can use it to manage contacts in a flexible and effective way, create successful and visually attractive campaigns, and create personalized subscriber lists. On the list, you can add 10 contacts per form, inserting their records full of contact and behavior information. Nevertheless, AWeber will do more than simply categorizing contacts – it will provide you an insight on where customers are coming from and whether they’ve bought a product or subscribed for a service. Thanks to such historical overview, the user can make smarter and more informed business decisions.

Overall, Aweber delivers on it's promises, customer service is top-notch as well. I currently signed up for their affiliate marketing, I would recommend it to my audience. 8/10, that's my personal rating.I like the high level of deliver-ability from Awebers' server(s), emails deliver to inbox almost all the time, so long you check for spam trigger words. I have been using Aweber for over 6 months now, and I think it's a great value for money. It has all the essential features anyone would need to grow their business online.
Once a prospect becomes a paying customer it's important that your email marketing messaging matches the action they've taken, otherwise your emails can be confusing and seem outdated. Use this Zapier integration to subscribe customers with a Shopify paid order to a new AWeber list and unsubscribe them from another list, like a general marketing list. That way, your messaging will always be relevant to your customers.

AWeber lets you manually add up to 10 contacts—subscribers—via a form. Each record collects the name of the person, email address, ad-tracking value, and the name of the initial email message the person will receive. This can turn into a long and tedious exercise for a long list of names. The import tool is a better choice, as it has a textbox to cut and paste an entire comma-delimited list of email addresses. You can also upload a spreadsheet (XLS and XLSX), text file (CSV, TSV, and TXT). Unlike Campaigner, MailChimp, and GetResponse, AWeber doesn't have Gmail or third-party integration for pulling contacts, which is disappointing. You can, however, export the Gmail contacts to a CSV file and use the import tool.
Fantastic. I don't think i'll ever change autoresponder. I've tried GetResponse and others and they are also awesome, but I like the simplicity of Aweber so I don't really see why I would ever change.I've used Aweber since 2014, and i've NEVER had an issue with them. Sure, they have downtime just like every other autoresponder a couple times per year, but it's always fixed really quickly. The deliverability is awesome, it's extremely easy to use and their customer is support is insanely responsive. I have had to do a few minor changes to my account every now and then, I kid you not, they have taken care of my issues usually within 2-3 minutes of me opening up the chat (which is now open 24/7)
Pros: I've been using Aweber since the very beginning of my online business about 7-8 years ago. It integrates well with other services to make an automated flow of things. I love the segmentation I can do. Just the overall ease of using it. Oh, and their customer service is INCREDIBLE. Probably one of my favorite features. There is someone live to chat with within seconds to help you. Incredible support, no waiting.

Tom: Yeah, totally. So, if you’re brand new to email marketing, or if you’ve begun to grow your email list using another email service provider, it’s really quite simple. You’ll use AWeber to manage your subscribers, manage your contacts. You can set up multiple lists to manage those subscribers, or you can have one list, and use what we call, “tags”, which I’m sure a lot of people are familiar with, to manage subscribers and preferences, based on tags. So, you have a bit of option there. First and foremost, it’s collecting and managing subscribers, but then, you can also leverage our core toolset, which is basically the autoresponder, or the automated email campaign sequence, you can develop campaigns, that’s what we call them here, to send automated emails out to those subscribers. Either fired off of tags, so they can trigger off of tags, they can trigger off of just the new subscriber being added to your list.


Spamming, or the sending of unsolicited email, using an email address, URL that is maintained on an AWeber Systems machine, or directing traffic to a webpage that contains any reference to AWeber Systems is STRICTLY prohibited. AWeber Systems will be the sole arbiter as to what constitutes a violation of this provision. This action WILL RESULT in immediate termination of your account without refund. Any service interruptions as a result of subscribers spamming will be billed to the subscriber at $50.00 per hour until service is restored. Subscriber will also be in violation of the AWeber Systems Service Agreement and subject to legal action.

Anna, I really appreciate your Aweber review. I wish I could say my experience has been the same. I find it hard to navigate and even harder to understand. I dread the thought of having to login to my account to do anything. I would really like to see more video’s and tutorials, especially on list building., and why can’t I just email my contacts the old way using aweber? You’re talking to somone who has been totally clueless to autoreponders. I’m wondering is there any hope for me (lol)

Aweber is a high end email marketing option. If you are serious about Email marketing, Aweber is a good place to start. I feel more professional and in control using Aweber for my blog subscriptions.What I like most about Aweber the analytics that the application offers. Compared to other email marketing software in the market, Aweber offers the most specific options in terms of targeting people around the emails they get. For example, Aweber if you send out an email with a particular offer and someone opens it but doesn't click the offer, you are able to know this and decide on the next action to take to convince them to check out your offer. Another thing I like about Aweber is the fact the Customer support. They respond quickly and are very friendly and helpful - they know their staff.
It is important to realize that almost no service in the Email Marketing Software category is going to be an ideal solution able to meet all the requirements of different business types, sizes and industries. It may be a good idea to read a few AWeber reviews first as certain solutions can dominate exclusively in a really narrow group of applications or be created with a very specific type of industry in mind.
