The program is designed to offer a variety of automated email management tools small- to medium-sized businesses, generally up to about 25,000 subscribers. According to Capterra, it is trusted by over 100,000 small businesses and entrepreneurs. So it can be useful for a small operation that wants to reach a few hundred supporters to slightly larger organizations that may have multiple messages that need to reach multiple audiences. According to Zapier, AWeber is a great tool to use if you’re wanting to grow your subscriber list.

The privately held company was founded in 1998 by CEO Tom Kulzer. Tom began his career in software engineering, but identified a gap in automated response software for sales leads and customer support. Tom addressed that opportunity by building an “automated web assistant”, which is now known as AWeber.AWeber can be seen as the original autoresponder software and has now grown to service over 120,000 customers in its 15 years as a privately held company.

When you go with AWeber, you get the complete email managerial package. Simply, opt-in forms are available to embed in your website, which AWeber used to collect subscriber details. You can send out fully customizable emails manually or on an automated schedule. AWeber further allows you to segment your subscriber list down by subscriber behavior and even target content, allowing you to choose who gets what, and when. Tailoring your content to fit your subscribers is basically a gauranteed way to increase your views and subscriber base and conversion rates.AWeber provides a simple interface which is easy to manage, and they also provide a large array of tutorials to help make the learning process a bit easier. The templates they provide are also of grat value as well. Tracking subscriber behavior and data is a huge bonus to help improve your conversions. A free 30-day trial is always a huge bonus as well.

Fantastic. I don't think i'll ever change autoresponder. I've tried GetResponse and others and they are also awesome, but I like the simplicity of Aweber so I don't really see why I would ever change.I've used Aweber since 2014, and i've NEVER had an issue with them. Sure, they have downtime just like every other autoresponder a couple times per year, but it's always fixed really quickly. The deliverability is awesome, it's extremely easy to use and their customer is support is insanely responsive. I have had to do a few minor changes to my account every now and then, I kid you not, they have taken care of my issues usually within 2-3 minutes of me opening up the chat (which is now open 24/7)
George: Well folks, you were this close to a ZZ Top edition of AWeber. Okay. Let’s go ahead and get into the content. Tom, I always love to start the show at a 50,000-foot view, where people can kind of wrap their arms around. If maybe they’re living under a rock and don’t know what AWeber is, why don’t you go ahead and take the time, just to explain really, what is AWeber?
More sophisticated split testing options are available in Mailchimp if you're prepared to pay for them - subscribers to Mailchimp's 'Pro Marketer' plan can test 8 variants of e-newsletters against each other. This is undoubtedly useful, but as this will cost you $199 per month on top of whatever you are paying to host your list, it's probably going to be a feature that only large organisations will avail of.

You have to let AWeber know from where your subscribers came—whether they signed up on a form, bought a product and opted to receive mail, or gave verbal agreement. AWeber also wants to know whether the list is being moved from another mail marketing provider. The goal is to verify you aren't spamming or buying lists. AWeber auto-creates a confirmation message, which is sent to contacts to verify their subscription. Like GetResponse, AWeber doesn't allow disposable domains, such as Mailinator addresses. I just wish this had been explicitly communicated. I uploaded a file containing regular addresses as well as Mailinator ones and waited for the import file to be reviewed and confirmed by Aweber. I never saw an error message informing me that the addresses were rejected, making me think the site was just slow. There was nothing in the import history log, either. When I tried the import without Mailinator addresses, it took just a few minutes.

Tom: Yeah so, the two most popular prices that we see is, $19 a month, which we talked about earlier. That’s gonna cover you up to 500 subscribers. Then, the next popular tier is $29 a month, which will cover you up to 2500 subscribers. It scales based on a number of subscribers that you have after that. So, those are kind of our cost to entry pricing tiers that we have. One of the really nice things that I appreciate working here at AWeber, it certainly makes conversations a lot easier, is that all of our services, and all of our tools, are offered for everyone. There’s no tiers based on features and based on the toolset.

Thank you for your review of Aweber. We appreciate you sharing your opinion and doing the research needed to fairly evaluate this email marketing service. We especially like how you described a weakness in the service and then how to overcome it. We have seen fit to link to this article in our independent Aweber Reviews section. Anyhow, keep up the good work spreading truth.
Thanks for the recommendation Ana. Once again your blog is helping to focus on what is needed to do to increase traffic & sales. Yes, I need to focus more on the information that we send out to our subscribers and I will take a look at Aweber! I’d be interested to hear, however, how often do you think is appropriate to send newsletters to your list?

Having used Aweber for a few different reasons (online training program delivery, marketing funnel, client newsletter and updates) it has definitely been my go to software for email marketing. It is competitively priced and the functionality you get for the cost is great. I would suggest spending a period of time familiarizing yourself with (or watching Youtube demos) and testing the software though before adding in real clients.
Tom: Yeah so, I think one of the problems that we see with AWeber, is because we are an older piece of software. We’ve been around since ’98. When you log in, there’s so much that you can do, because we have a lot of different features, right? So, you can either draft your first one time email, you can jump right in and set up your automated campaign, you can create your sign up form, you can import your subscribers from another ESP, or if you have another list somewhere else. So, it’s kind of a, “Choose your own adventure” that happens when you first log in and you set up that initial account. So, I think for customers who may be overwhelmed with email marketing and kind of the, “where should I go on the map?”, type of feeling, what we’ve done is, we have basically an onboarding email series that drips out over the course of 30 days during your free trial.
Run A/B tests to learn how word and design choices impact signups in order to do more of what works. Use email automation to send welcome emails, product launch sequences, email courses and more. Create sophisticated marketing funnels with the easy-to-use builder. To improve performance, use tags to segment subscribers based on the links they click and the emails they open and send the right message to the right person exactly when they need it. Connect with AWeber's team of email experts who can help improve email marketing tactics.

By now, you already have a working autoresponder set up using AWeber. The final step is add more entries to your follow up series. Return to Messages > Legacy Follow Up Series on your dashboard, and click the Create a Message button again. Now, repeat the process from step number two until your email is ready to go. When adding it to your existing series, you’ll get the option to schedule when it should be delivered:
Now you can do this with then the editor and that’s actually what I prefer, but if you want these branded things to be automatically added to your e-mails you can add your company name, the URL and a little signature that will go on every e-mail. And then under social media sharing if you want to also tweet that you just sent out a broadcast, you can do that. But I find that to be a little bit pushy so I generally don’t do that and most Internet marketers don’t do that.
Okay, so you’ll be surprised that even though it looks good right here you can get some funky looking e-mails in real life and in an actual e-mail inbox and especially links can be wrong sometimes. So you definitely want to test every e-mail before officially adding it to your autoresponder sequence. But if you go to check your e-mail and everything looks good, click on back, then click on settings. Okay this will determine when the e-mail goes out and in this case because it’s your first e-mail, it goes out immediately after the person confirms. Okay, so that’s automatic for the first e-mail and once that’s done click on save and exit. And you’ll get the message that your message has been saved and here is the first e-mail.
Every email newsletter app lets you import your subscribers so you can start emailing your existing customers and fans immediately, but most require you to import a CSV spreadsheet of emails and names. AWeber lets you do that, or you can just copy-and-paste your emails from any other app in plain text. It then lets you map the contact info correctly to AWeber's list fields and specify where the subscribers are from so it’ll know whether or not your subscribers need to confirm they want the emails.
The best part about using aweber is it's relieve of use and ability to hyperlink numerous other programs. Earning it easy to maintain of your customers as well as automate a sequence of email messages. I was able to get my investment in Aweber back inside a few months of using it. This may take more or less time based about how big of the following your business has already.
Now obviously you want more than one e-mail and your autoresponder sequence and in my experience, the easiest way to add them as not to click create another follow-up, it’s just a copy the one that you already have. Okay, so just click copy and this will copy this template that you already set up for your next e-mail. Okay and this actually obviously copies the exact e-mail so you want to change the subject line. So three mistakes cake bakers make. Something like that, whatever your autoresponder happens to be about and then he added your content just like you would.
Synchronises customer data of your newsletter subscribers to the AWeber list you select. * Stores relevant customer data in your AWeber subscriber list. Not only the name and email of your customers are stored in your AWeber account, but also their address data and customer information like the amount of orders in your webshop and the total amount they spent. This greatly increases your segmentation options. * Synchronises your customer data to your AWeber list every 15 minutes. This means your AWeber subscriber list remains up-to-date and you can optimize your autoresponder strategy by sending new customers emails within a few days. * Note that opt in emails are sent to your customers by default. If you don't want this to happen, you can disable them in the List Options page on the tab 'Confirmed Opt-In'. You can switch off option 'Send a confirmed opt-in email for Imports'.
