Specifically Gmail, Yahoo!, AOL, Zendesk, rocketmail.com, and ymail.com have updated their DMARC record. DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting & Conformance) is used by many major organizations and ISPs to help them identify issues with email authentication abuse. While using DMARC is great for reducing email abuse issues, changes like the one that Gmail, Yahoo!, AOL, Zendesk, rocketmail.com, and ymail.com have made will have a widespread impact on its users.
Tom: Yeah, that’s a great question. So, to be absolutely and totally transparent with your listeners and your viewers, I think, if you’re ready to start growing your list, and you have absolutely zero idea of how or if you’ll ever make any money whatsoever, AWeber may not be the best fit for you because we are a paid service. So, we have a free trial but after that, the base price is $19 a month. So, if you’re comfortable with using our Best In Class Tool Set, and paying $19 a month, by all means, that’s fantastic and you’ll reap the benefits of that. But, if you have no way of generating income through your marketing, on the back end, you might not see a return on your investment, if you’re not making at least $19 a month. I hope that your marketing efforts are generating at least $19 a month but, if you’re a hobbyist, if you’re just starting a blog, or starting a podcast for fun, and you want to connect with your audience, there are free tools and free ESPs, email service providers out there, that are totally competent, and will help you grow your list.
AWeber is a very popular marketing solution even for the most hardcore of email marketers. The platform comes with superior autoresponders that make customer engagement and interaction easier than before. The system also boasts with advanced options for integration, including leading business tools and systems such as Zendesk, Salesforce, WordPress, PayPal, LeadPages, and WordPress, to name a few.
Then, of course, you’ll want new subscribers. That’s where AWeber's forms come in. They let you make signup forms with up to 25 fields to collect as much info as you want, using your own design or pre-made templates that run the range from simple layouts to fancy forms with animated widgets. Its form fields are smart, too—the normal name field can figure out first and last names, and split them automatically so you can personalize emails without making new subscribers click through multiple form fields. You can then embed the form on your site or let AWeber turn it into a simple landing page, and can A/B test your forms to see which one works better. And if that’s not enough, AWeber integrates with WordPress, PayPal, and Facebook so you can add contacts from the apps your customers and fans already use. There’s even a mobile app to add subscribers on the go from your conferences, stores and more.
But generally I just leave it pretty much like this and you can choose one of the pre-approved subjects that they give you which is basically different variations of confirm your subscription. Or you can create a custom one and you have to wait a day or so for Aweber to approve it and then you can just say something like this, we received your request, thank you just have to confirm an order to receive. Once you’ve done that click on save settings.

Overall: I'm still new to running my business 100% on my own so a lot of marketing programs out there confuse me. This however seems easy enough at this point. I like that almost everything I need is included and if my customer base grows I have the option to upgrade my account to adjust accordingly without overspending. So far it seems great I will leave a more detailed review after my trial ends.
Watch out for the $29 report on how to develop an email marketing strategy. It's really easy to click on the wrong thing when checking out and wind up with the report in your shopping cart. If do you wind up buying it by mistake or don't find it useful, AWeber promises to refund your money. There is no free trial or free version to test out the service—but AWeber does let you try out the software for just $1 during the first month. That's a good deal.
By now, you already have a working autoresponder set up using AWeber. The final step is add more entries to your follow up series. Return to Messages > Legacy Follow Up Series on your dashboard, and click the Create a Message button again. Now, repeat the process from step number two until your email is ready to go. When adding it to your existing series, you’ll get the option to schedule when it should be delivered:
More sophisticated split testing options are available in Mailchimp if you're prepared to pay for them - subscribers to Mailchimp's 'Pro Marketer' plan can test 8 variants of e-newsletters against each other. This is undoubtedly useful, but as this will cost you $199 per month on top of whatever you are paying to host your list, it's probably going to be a feature that only large organisations will avail of.
That’s the pitch I give on the podcast but, I really do feel like it’s more than just the software, just the tool. It is the heritage, the customer service, the team here. We have such an awesome team. We have over 100 employees here, right outside of Philadelphia, PA. Everyone here is just really dedicated to the success of our customers, but also the email marketing community. We do a lot, even outside of our customer base. But yeah, it’s all about our love for connecting you with your audience and helping you grow your business through email marketing, and through the inbox.
MailChimp does not shut you down for affiliate links (I have used affiliate links, and I corresponded with MailChimp support prior to using them to explain what I wanted to do). MailChimp WILL shut you down for using blacklisted links, which tends to happen a lot in a few shady niches (make money fast, lose weight fast, seduce women/men, multi-loser-marketing of any stripe, porn, etc.). Most of my affiliate links are to Amazon, a few are to direct affiliate accounts of musical accessory businesses. None of which are likely to ever appear on a blacklist.
List Segmentation: I would have to say the number one feature is the ability to tag and segment subscribers based on their behavior. This allows you to follow up with leads based on the specific actions they take (or don’t take). For example can tag links inside emails so when your subscriber click on it you will know. You will have the power to create list segments based on any field in your database.
Marketing automation works in a similar way to autoresponders, in that emails are automatically sent to a mailing list according to a predefined sequence. But instead of time intervals, user behaviour is used to determine what should emails should be sent next - opens, clicks, goal completions, purchases, abandoned carts and more can all be used to trigger the next e-newsletter.
Using Aweber, you can create ‘goals’ or combine automation rules with tagging to make autoresponders behave in quite funky ways...but if you want to make use of autoresponders in really advanced ways, you'll probably need to look at other products, particularly Getresponse, which provides 'marketing automation' functionality that hooks up to a built-in CRM.
