Aweber costs more, and even though it has gone through re-design recently, loses out to Mailchimp in ease of use. But if you’re willing to pay more money, you can always get their designer to work on a template, and undoubtedly the end result will be better than a Mailchimp design. AWeber is the better option for large companies and agencies, since they usually have a larger budget for email marketing. Many larger blogs that have been around for a while prefer it for its better customer service, and easier to use sign-up forms.
But, what we’ve recently done, which we found some success with, is we give you access to all of those emails, on day one. So, we’ll email you and then we’ll give you access to access all the emails that you will be getting in the future. If you’re just like, “I get that, that’s the first thing you want me to do but, it’s not the first thing I want to do on my AWeber account.” So, we take a very step by step approach for new customers but, we also give you, kind of this ala carte, get access to all the content that you need for onboarding, at once, so that you can choose your own adventure. We can kind of empower you to make those decisions.
Aweber lets you make signup forms with up to 25 fields of information, using either your own design or a pre-made template. Forms can be embedded into your site, turned into a landing page, and you can carry out A/B tests on them. It also integrates with Worpdress, Paypal and Facebook so you can add contact information from customers that already connect with you on these platforms. You can also use the mobile app to add subscribers on the go, for example at an event.

Overall: I've tried various email services multiple times, but I feel the most drawn to Aweber. I like the ease of their email editor. I also like how easy it is to change the order of my legacy follow-up series by simply dragging & dropping the emails in whatever order I wish on the fly. Yes, Aweber is a little more expensive than some other platforms, but I'd rather pay a bit more for something that fits my needs than to be irritated all the time.
The lack of a free plan also means you need to start paying straight away (or after the 30 day trial), and even the entry level offer is rather expensive for up to 500 subscribers at $19 per month. You get much more for your money with tools like ActiveCampaign. And while their later tiers are more in line with the competition, you can still find cheaper and with more features by using MailerLite, for instance.
Before Aweber, I was sending coaching emails to my clients MANUALLY three times per week. I was keeping records on spreadsheets with who had already gotten what coaching email. Aweber eliminated this time-consuming activity. Additionally, I've been able to offer some free e-courses that have ultimately landed me new clients. Only with an autoresponder could I have done this!
AWeber treats emails a little differently from other services. There are different processes for creating Follow-up Series, which are essentially the auto-responders mentioned above, Broadcast messages, and Blog Broadcasts. Follow-up emails are sent automatically every time a new user is added, and Broadcast messages are one-time messages, such as newsletters. Blog Broadcast grabs posts from a blog and compiles them into a newsletter form. You can also create your own mail templates using the Email Template Manager, where you can customize existing templates or write your own using AWeber's API.
We like that AWeber only has one price plan that changes based on the amount of subscribers. It makes it easy to pick the right one straight away, without having to check a long table to compare different offers with varying features. But unfortunately, AWeber isn’t our favourite email marketing solution, ranking rather low in our own table. Their features underwhelmed us, and the user experience is passable at best. Still, if your mind is set on this company, here is their offer:
Copying and pasting contact information from one platform to another is a waste of precious resources. By connecting AWeber with Zapier, you can automatically add subscribers to your email list—no matter where you get their information from. You can also organize contact information any way you like by exporting new AWeber subscribers to your favorite database.
I'm still new to running my business 100% on my own so a lot of marketing programs out there confuse me. This however seems easy enough at this point. I like that almost everything I need is included and if my customer base grows I have the option to upgrade my account to adjust accordingly without overspending. So far it seems great I will leave a more detailed review after my trial ends. It's very convienient to be able to manage my payment according to how many subscribers I have instead of over paying for what I'm not even using. I love that sign up forms Analytics, Integrations Image Hosting and stock photos are also included and easy to use. I don't have to have multiple programs open at the same time to complete a task.
Both Aweber and Getresponse have almost the same pricing structure if you closely analyze their pricing. You can get a lot of subscribers before you actually have to jump in heavily on the cost. But when it comes down to it, Getresponse pricing is lesser between Aweber vs. Getresponse. Aweber offers unlimited image hosting where Getresponse offers up to 1GB storage and you have to upgrade for additional storage.
The main aspects of the product that would nudge me in Aweber's direction are its ease-of-use and comprehensive support. The latter may be particularly important for some potential users, particularly those starting out in e-marketing without a truckload of technical skills (you probably won’t get stuck, but if you do, you can talk to a real human being on a real phone line about your problem).
